Six Computer Stars and Young Eleven Emerge Victorious in Six Computer Tournament


Opuwo – The Six Computer Stars football team and the Young Eleven netball team triumphed in their respective categories at the annual Six Computer football and netball tournament, which concluded on Monday. The event, featuring 21 football teams and six netball teams, took place over the weekend in Opuwo.



According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Six Computer Stars maintained their dominance in the football category. They advanced to the final by defeating Haonib Football Club 2-1 and then secured victory over Ombombo FC in a closely contested match that ended in a 4-3 penalty shootout following a goalless draw. Ombombo FC had previously made it to the final after winning against Springbok FC in a 5-4 penalty shootout, also following a goalless draw.



In the netball category, Young Eleven clinched the top spot by earning maximum points in all their matches. They were followed by the Ombu B netball team, which secured second place, with Six Computer Stars and the Ombu A team taking third and fourth places, respectively.



Hambo Kauhaha, speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, described the tournament as a success, noting that it proceeded without any hitches and all teams displayed professionalism. Kauhaha emphasized the importance of the event during the holiday season, as it provides a platform for young talents to showcase their skills while engaging in constructive activities.



The prize distribution saw Young Eleven netting N.dollars 2,500 and gold medals for their victory. The Ombu B netball team received N.dollars 1,500 and silver medals, while Six Computer Stars and the Ombu A netball teams each received N.dollars 1,000 as semi-final losers. In football, Six Computer Stars were awarded N.dollars 13,000, a trophy, and gold medals as champions. Ombombo FC, finishing second, received N.dollars 7,000, and Haonib FC and Springbok FC, as semi-finalists, each received N.dollars 3,500.
