Ethiopia Highlights Role of AfCFTA in Fostering Pan-African Trade at Geneva Event


BERN – The significance of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in achieving a robust and inclusive Pan-African trade ecosystem was emphasized by the Ethiopian Permanent Mission in Geneva during a presentation on Wednesday.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the UN Office at Geneva, the AfCFTA is a key component of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, aiming for sustainable development across the continent. In his address at the Swiss Africa Business Circle’s New Year reception, Ambassador Tsegab outlined the critical need for coordination and harmonization through Regional Economic Communities to realize the objectives of AfCFTA. He highlighted Ethiopia’s involvement in significant regional projects such as the Addis-Djibouti corridor, Regional Energy Trade among East African Countries, and the LAPSSET Corridor Project, which align with AfCFTA’s goals to enhance Africa’s socioeconomic growth and global competitiveness.
