Banwa Province Reports No Mass Movement to Solenzo Despite Social Media Claims

BANWA, BURKINA FASO – Contrary to widespread claims on social media, no villages in Banwa province are evacuating towards Solenzo, the provincial capital. These rumors, which suggested a mass movement of populations seeking refuge, have been debunked by local residents and confirmed through official checks.

According to Burkina Information Agency, reports circulated on social media on Saturday, February 17, alleging that several villages within the province were deserting their homes to take shelter in Solenzo due to unspecified threats. However, after thorough verification with both local authorities and the inhabitants of the said villages, it has been clarified that these reports are baseless. No village cited in the social media posts has been under any threat that would necessitate such movements.
