Cultural Ministers from Niger and Mali Meet with Burkina Faso’s Transitional President During National Culture Week

OUAGADOUGOU—In the context of the 21st edition of the National Culture Week (SNC), the transitional President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, met with cultural ministers from Mali and Niger on Saturday morning.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting included Andogoly Guindo, the Malian Minister of Crafts, Culture, Hotel Industry, and Tourism, and Abdourahamane Amadou, the Nigerien Minister of Culture. Discussions focused on cultural collaboration and strengthening regional ties through the shared cultural heritage of the Sahel region.

Amadou expressed satisfaction with the discussions and conveyed fraternal greetings from General Abdourahamane Tchiani, President of the National Council for the Protection of the Fatherland of Niger. He also thanked Burkina Faso for honoring Niger as the guest country at this year’s SNC, highlighting that Niger would showcase cultural elements from its diverse regions, ranging from river zones to the desert.

Guindo relayed greetings from his counterpart, Colonel Assimi Goïta of Mali, and emphasized the role of culture in fostering cohesion among the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). He mentioned that Mali’s participation includes a significant delegation and an artistic troupe from the Dogon cultural area, emphasizing culture as a vital integration tool within the AES.

The meeting also saw President Traore providing guidance to the visiting ministers, reinforcing commitments to actualize the cultural and integrative ideals of the AES heads of state.
