Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti Supports Meru’s Kawira Mwangaza, Criticizes Impeachment by MCAs

Machakos — Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has expressed her support for Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who was recently impeached by Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) for the second time in less than a year. Wavinya criticized the MCAs’ actions and urged Kawira to consider dissolving the county government.

According to a new release by Kenya News Agency, while speaking during a seed distribution exercise in Masinga, noted that it was unjust for MCAs to impeach the governor twice in a year despite her efforts to drive development in the county. “As a fellow woman leader, I stand by Kawira. You can’t impeach a person twice. The people of Meru elected her because they believed in her and as a woman, I will support her,” said Wavinya.

Wavinya suggested that if the MCAs were not willing to collaborate with Governor Kawira, the devolved unit should be dissolved, allowing the leaders to seek a fresh mandate. “Let the MCAs go home together with the governor and seek votes again,” advised Wavinya.

The Machakos Governor also expressed optimism that the Senate will exonerate Kawira and overturn the impeachment decision.
