US Charge d’affaires discusses issues related to the Stabilization and Recovery

The Charge d’affaires of the United States of America to Somalia, Mr. Timothy Trenkle who attended the High-Level Stabilization and Recovery meeting on Thursday addressed the attendees and discussed many issues related to the stabilization and recovery of liberated areas in Somalia. Mr. Trenkle said that Somalia needs an inclusive government that will last for the future of the country and changes the lives of the people. ‘We have proud to be partners in this initial rather stabilization with over 100 activities and 26 districts, but we know we need to take it to the next level’, Timothy added. The meeting which was focusing on Stabilization and Recovery brought together members from the Somali government, UN personnel, and international partners to discuss ways to deliver aid and government services to the recently liberated areas as well as the basic need of the locals in those areas. Mr. Timothy says that even though the US assists the Somali army, the hallmark of the military campaign is to see a Somali-led military, and ‘the Stabilization also needs to be Somali-led’, he added.
