Burkina: three soldiers in preventive detention for plotting against state security

Three Burkinabè soldiers were arrested and presented to an examining magistrate who put them on trial and placed them in preventive detention for acts of, among others, military conspiracy, violation of instructions, conspiracy against state security, the AIB learned on Friday from the military prosecutor’s office.

The press release from the military prosecutor’s office, of which the AIB received a copy, gives the identity and rank of the three soldiers concerned.

He specifies that it was following a denunciation that the military prosecutor’s office instructed the Research Section of the Ouagadougou Gendarmerie to open a detailed investigation and to arrest the alleged perpetrators and accomplices.

“At the end of August 2023, facts were reported to the military prosecutor’s office according to which soldiers and former soldiers, in intelligence, would identify sensitive points and homes including that of the Transitional President and certain civil and military authorities, with a view to destabilizing the conduct of the Transition.

Following this denunciation. the military prosecutor’s office instructed the Ouagadougou Gendarmerie Research Section to open a detailed investigation and arrest the alleged perpetrators and accomplices.

To date, three (03) soldiers in question have been arrested and presented to an investigating judge who indicted them and placed them in preventive detention for acts of military conspiracy, violation of instructions, conspiracy against the security of the State, criminal conspiracy and endangering the lives of others. In this case, they are Warrant Officer KABORE Windinmalégdé, Chief Sergeant RAMDE Brice Ismaël and ex-Corporal DAH Sami who unequivocally admitted the facts.

Investigations are continuing with a view to establishing all possible implications and drawing all legal consequences.
