Makueni Facilitates KCSE Examination for Candidates in Health Facilities

MAKUENI – In an unprecedented situation in Makueni county, four Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates are writing their exams within local health facilities, a decision accommodated due to their medical conditions.

According to Kenya News Agency, accommodations have been made for a candidate from Senior Chief Munguti Secondary School to take the exams at Mbooni Sub County hospital. Similarly, officials confirmed that two students from Masumba and St Anthony Ithiani secondary schools are sitting for their exams at Makueni county referral hospital and another health facility in Nzaui sub county after they recently gave birth.

Nzaui Deputy County Commissioner Timothy Tirop informed the Kenya News Agency (KNA) about the special provisions, highlighting the county’s commitment to ensuring all candidates can participate in the national exams, regardless of their circumstances. Additionally, a student from Yemole secondary school is also taking the exams at Makueni Referral Hospital following childbirth.

Yopesh Magara, the Makueni Sub County Director of Education, remarked on the seamless progression of the examination process, asserting that all necessary measures to facilitate the candidates are effectively in place. Magara provided an overview of the candidate distribution in the county during the opening of the exam container at the Wote headquarters offices on Monday, where he disclosed the gender parity among the candidates, with a near-equal split of 15,090 boys and 15,059 girls out of the total 30,149 candidates in the county.
