Rising Starlets Prepare For Angola World Cup Qualifier

The Kenya Women’s U20 National Team, Rising Starlets, has entered the fourth day of their residential training as of Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in preparation for their upcoming two-legged second-round FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Angola.

The 30 players who have reported to camp make up a provisional squad of goalkeepers Nelly Achieng (Soccer Assassins), Judith Okumu (Butere Girls), Scovia Awuor (Sigtuna Football Academy), Christine Omolo (Butere Girls), and defenders Dorcas Glenda (Red Commandos), Ruth Akinyi (Nasokol Girls), Charity Luhavi (Wiyeta Girls), Mollyne Akinyi (Acakoro), Velma Kaveza (Itigo Girls), Purity Awino (Nairobi Starlets), Anne Brenda Achieng (Macmillan Queens), and Elizabeth Ochaka (Butere Girls).

Midfielders comprise Clotilda Auma (Butere Girls), Hellen Auma (Soccer Assassins), Jane Hato (Soccer Assassins), Susan Akoth (Acakoro), Jerrine Adhiambo (Soccer Assassins), Faith Atieno (Soccer Assassins), Anno Halima Dima (Kayole Starlet), Elizabeth Muteshi (Nakuru City Q
ueens), Rebecca Kwoba (Zetech Sparks), and Rachel Adhiambo (Acakoro).

The Forwards are Elizabeth Mideva (Arch Bishop Njenga), Fasila Adhiambo (Ulinzi Starlets), Valerie Nekesa (Soccer Assassins), Faith Naliaka (Bukhaywa Secondary School), Anne Nabwire (Zetech Sparks), Marion Serenge (Arch Bishop Njenga), Charity Midewa (Soccer Assassins), and Emily Okute (Gaspo Women).

As part of their ongoing preparation, the team played against Kahawa Pride Ladies and secured an 18-0 victory at Kasarani Annex.

Rising Starlets is gearing up for the first leg against Angola, scheduled for Sunday, October 8, 2023. Subsequently, they will travel to Angola for the second leg on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, ahead of the away match on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

The victor of this tie on aggregate will advance to face the winner of the second-round clash between Cameroon and Botswana in the third round.
