Burkinabè Army Neutralizes Terrorists in Eastern Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou – In a decisive operation, the Burkinabè army neutralized around ten terrorists in Manni, located in the Gnagna province of the Eastern region of Burkina Faso. Security sources informed AIB that the militants were intercepted and killed during an operation on Sunday, November 19, 2023, as they were stealing food supplies.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the incident began on the evening of Saturday, November 18, when a truck driver, carrying food and ignoring safety instructions, found himself isolated in the bush of Manni. The air vectors of the Burkinabè army were alerted and began a search operation for the vehicle. They located the truck isolated among several terrorists who had hijacked it.

In the early hours of Sunday, the terrorists began transferring the food supplies to their base, approximately fifteen kilometers from Manni. As they prepared to transport the remainder of the supplies, a missile strike executed by the army hit the site, effectively neutralizing the terrorists.

Following the air strike, the Bogandé Combatant Forces moved in to secure the area and complete the mission. A provisional report indicates that more than ten terrorists were killed in the operation. The army also recovered weapons, motorcycles, other unburned logistics, and the looted food.

In a related operation in Kongloré, near Ouargaye in the Center-East region, air vectors were deployed to support the Volunteer Defense Force (VDP), who had resisted an attack by about a hundred terrorists. After the terrorists retreated into a dense forest where their base was located, they were pursued and targeted by the enthusiastic pilots of the Burkinabè army. A first group of terrorists was located and eliminated, followed by another group who were neutralized despite hiding in dense vegetation.

The operations in the area and other fronts continue, as the Burkinabè military forces are committed to thwarting the persistent terrorist activities in Burkina Faso.
