Banzon Community Rallies to Support Displaced Women and Vulnerable Residents with Food and Clothing Donation

BANZON — In a significant show of solidarity, the Banzon community organized a day of food and clothing donations on Saturday, July 6, 2024, aimed at supporting displaced women and other vulnerable individuals within the municipality.

According to Burkina Information Agency, head of the host family management at Banzon municipal service, the initiative collected 1,000,000 F CFA worth of essentials, including rice and corn, through local contributions. The distribution event, which took place in the rural commune of Orodara, targeted 100 vulnerable people, comprising 51 internally displaced women and 49 other vulnerable residents.

The event responded to a national call by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Transition, urging citizens both at home and abroad to extend their support to those in need. Lenivo Sanou, the provincial director in charge of Social Action, highlighted the timely nature of the donation and its alignment with broader efforts to foster community solidarity.

The President of the Banzon special delegation, Poda Sié, lauded the Organizing Committee and technical services for their commitment to aiding the internally displaced and vulnerable groups within the area. The community day also featured a courtesy visit to the village chief and included a cycling race for disabled individuals, further emphasizing the inclusive spirit of the event.
