Gourcy Celebrates Outstanding Educators and Students in Zondoma Province


GOURCY, Burkina Faso — The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Zondoma celebrated exceptional achievements in education on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, by honoring educators and students who excelled during the 2023 school year. The event, held in Gourcy, was presided over by the High Commissioner of Zondoma province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nabé.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony aimed to acknowledge and reward the hard work and commitment of education stakeholders. Hélène Tiendrebeogo, a teacher at Tougo B public primary school, was recognized as the best teacher in the province for the year 2023. She achieved a remarkable success rate of 98.11% in the Certificate of Primary Studies (CEP) exam with her 53 students. Tiendrebeogo was awarded a tablet, a set of supplies, and a congratulatory letter for her exemplary performance.



Mr. Sawadogo emphasized the importance of these awards in motivating educators and encouraged those who did not receive awards to strive for greater hard work. He also appealed to all partners to support those on the ground, especially in the context of the current school year, which has seen the reopening of several schools previously closed due to insecurity.



The High Commissioner of the Zondoma province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nabé, acknowledged the challenges faced by the education sector, especially the disruptions caused by insecurity. He expressed his appreciation for the hard work of all stakeholders in achieving commendable results under difficult circumstances and reiterated his commitment to supporting their mission.



In addition to educators, outstanding students were also recognized. Abraham Joseph Romba, a student from the Saint Joseph B school in Gourcy, was named the best student in the province in the CEP, scoring 151 out of 160 points. He received a bicycle and a set of supplies as a prize. The award for the best basic education district (CEB) was given to CEB of Tougo, which achieved a success rate of 82.55% in the CEP.



The province of Zondoma achieved a 60.82% success rate in the CEP in 2023, highlighting the collective effort and dedication of educators and students in the region.
