Namibian Minister Calls for Unified Action to Combat Gender-Based Violence

WINDHOEK, Namibia — The Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare (MGEPESW) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent violent incidents against women and children in Namibia. In a statement released Friday, Minister Doreen Sioka highlighted the murder of Angelique Delia Maasdorp in her home and the discovery of an abandoned infant in Walvis Bay as particularly distressing examples of the violence plaguing the nation.

According to Namibia Press Agency, these incidents underscore the need for urgent action to protect vulnerable groups and combat gender-based violence (GBV). Sioka emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting and preventing violence, calling for a collective effort to eradicate GBV and ensure a safer society for all.
