Implantation of a nuclear power plant in Burkina: Ibrahim Traoré talks about it with Vladimir Poutine

President Ibrahim Traoré told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the importance for him of having, if possible, as soon as possible, a nuclear power plant in Burkina Faso, able to cover the energy needs of the sub-region.

“We have a crucial need for energy. This is an important point for me. Because we need, if possible, to set up a nuclear power plant in Burkina Faso to produce electricity, ”said Ibrahim Traoré during a one-on-one with Vladimir Putin, broadcast by the Russian channel RT.

“Our position is quite strategic because we are in the heart of West Africa. Because of the energy deficit in the sub-region, if there is a Russian private sector that can establish itself, it will be able to sell energy to the entire sub-region”, added the Burkinabè president.

He wished that his Russian counterpart could see in “short time”, how to carry out this project “very important for him”.

As a reminder, Captain Ibrahim Traoré is staying in Russia as part of the Russia-Africa Forum.
