Burkinabè Architect Diébédo Francis KERE Presents Prestigious Medals to President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE

Ouagadougou – The President of the Transition and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, received an audience with the winner of the 34th Praemium Imperiale, Burkinabè architect Diébédo Francis KERE. The architect met with the President to present his medals and to discuss the Thomas-SANKARA Memorial, a project for which KERE has created the model.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, he also used the opportunity to encourage the Head of State in his mission to reclaim national territory.

KERE declared that he presented the Praemium Imperiale medal, often referred to as the “Nobel of the arts,” along with the Pritzker Prize, which he received last year, to Captain Ibrahim TRAORE. During their discussion, both parties revisited the plans for the Thomas-SANKARA Memorial. KERE mentioned that the project aims to create an unprecedented urban park in Africa, where people can learn about the policies and vision of President Thomas SANKARA.

The construction of the mausoleum, a crucial part of the Memorial, will commence soon, as per the President of the Transition’s request, KERE confirmed. The Head of State expressed his pride in seeing a fellow Burkinabè achieve international recognition.

Captain Ibrahim TRAORE commended the architect’s ongoing excellence and was pleased to find a leader committed to addressing the challenges facing the country. KERE concluded the meeting by expressing his satisfaction with the President’s commitment to combating the issues plaguing Burkina Faso.
