Opuwo Community Holds Candlelight Vigil for President Geingob


OPUWO — In a heartfelt tribute to the late President Hage Gottfried Geingob, hundreds of Opuwo residents participated in a candlelight vigil organized by the Opuwo Town Council. Mourners gathered to honor the memory of President Geingob, who passed away in Windhoek at the age of 82, through hymns, scriptures, and prayers.



According to The Namibia Press Agency, an Otjikako Traditional Authority councillor, President Geingob was celebrated for his dedication to the equitable distribution of Namibia’s resources and his efforts to alleviate hunger and poverty among the vulnerable. Opuwo Mayor Rosa Mbinge-Tjeundo praised Geingob as an inspirational figure whose leadership was instrumental in laying the groundwork for Namibia’s future prosperity and unity. The vigil served as a reminder of Geingob’s commitment to all Namibians and his vision for a united, prosperous country.
