The CSC invites television publishers and distributors to respect the decision banning homosexual content

Ouagadougou, September 14, 2023 (AIB) – The Superior Council of Communication (CSC) on Thursday invited television publishers and distributors to respect the decision banning content of a homosexual nature, in order to protect minors against television content that could harm their development. The institution also asked parents to control what their children have access to through cell phones, tablets and the internet.

“We ask television publishers and distributors to pay attention to this (homosexual content) from now on. They should not have this kind of content in their programs. As for distributors, we tell them that media that promote homosexuality are not authorized,” indicated the president of the CSC, Abdoul Aziz Bamogo.

The president of the Higher Council of Communication (CSC), Abdoul Aziz Bamogo, spoke Thursday in Ouagadougou at an information and awareness meeting for television publishers and distributors on the modifications made to the system for protecting minors against television content which could harm their development .

For Mr. Bamogo, distributors must protect minors by providing “ programs free of homosexual content”.

“We gave them a month to try to comply. At the end of this, we will carry out a check to see what level of compliance with this decision is. If there are those who do not comply, we will challenge them to see what needs to be done in relation to the provisions of the decision,” he said.

For him, this decision aims to protect children, minors and adolescents against media content that can be harmful to their development.

The president of the CSC also challenged parents on their responsibility for controlling the television content to which their children are exposed.

“Parents must make the effort to control what their children have access to through cell phones, tablets and the internet. We call on them to play their role so that we can effectively protect our minors from the audiovisual content to which they have access,” he concluded.

“We welcome this decision with a certain desire to put it in place quickly. We are very sensitive to everything that concerns us, everything that concerns morals. Canal+ is a corporate citizen that is very attentive to the expectations and aspirations of these targets,” indicated Canal+ Burkina communications manager, Souaibou Ba.
