Kenya to Implement Comprehensive Police Reforms

Nairobi: In Kenya, the government has announced a significant initiative to implement recommendations from the task force on police reforms. These reforms are aimed at improving the working conditions and welfare of security officers across various services.

According to Kenya News Agency, the recommendations encompass logistics, mobility, and equipment for the National Police Service, the Prisons Service, and the National Youth Service (NYS). These measures are intended to enhance their efficiency and improve service delivery to the public. Dr. Omollo made these remarks while commissioning an ultra-modern police station at Sosiot center in Belgut constituency, a project funded through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) at a cost of Sh9 million. He emphasized that the government plans to build and equip similar facilities throughout the country.

The announcement was made in the presence of Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mr. Abdi Hassan, Belgut legislator Mr. Nelson Koech, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, and other local leaders. Dr. Omollo called on Kenyans to support the police and the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) in implementing the Kenya Kwanza economic transformation agenda. This agenda focuses on housing settlement, universal health care, the digital economy, Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and agriculture.

Dr. Omollo also assured residents that, in collaboration with Amb. Julius Bitok, Principal Secretary for Immigration and Citizen Services, the Department of Registration of Births and Death would be made available at Sosiot Center to facilitate easier access to civil registration services. Additionally, he directed Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Abdi Hassan to address the gambling and illicit brew issues in Chepnyoga Center, Mobego village.

Furthermore, Dr. Omollo announced that Monday, 13th November, is a national holiday dedicated to a nationwide tree planting exercise. The government aims to plant over 100 million trees countrywide, with seedlings available at Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs camps for planting in public institutions. County Commissioners will lead the exercise in each county.

Lastly, Dr. Omollo laid a foundation stone for the modernization of Mobego Primary School in Belgut. Area MP Nelson Koech has allocated Sh18 million from the NG-CDF for this project, with an initial cheque of Sh3 million issued to commence the development.
