Burkina: Tabaski, trial and terrorism on the daily menu

This Thursday’s Burkinabè dailies echo the trial of the former Minister in charge of Transport, the attack on a supply convoy which left 34 dead and around 20 injured in the province of Soum, without forgetting the Tabaski festival celebrated yesterday.

“Aïd-El-Kébir 2023: The prayer was dedicated to peace and to the victims of terrorism”, features the headline of the private daily Today in Faso, evoking the Tabaski festival, celebrated the day before.

On this subject, the public daily Sidwaya mentions on its front page: “Tabaski 2023: under the sign of social cohesion”.

The newspaper informs that the Muslim faithful, on the occasion of the Tabaski feast, prayed on Wednesday June 28 in Ouagadougou at the Place de la Nation under the sign of peace and social cohesion.

According to him, the prayer was led by Imam Abdallah Ouedraogo.

For its part, the private daily Le Pays maintains that the Muslim community has prayed for the return of peace.

The colleague indicates that after two rakats of prayers, followed by his sermon, Imam Abdallah Ouédraogo recalled the history of Tabaski and the merits of his actions.

According to the newspaper, he formulated blessings for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) which are at the forefront in the fight against terrorism.

The private daily specifies that Imam Ouédraogo welcomed the presence of other religious denominations alongside Muslims.

As for the dean of the private dailies, L’Observateur Paalga, he informs that there was a strong government delegation of four ministers at prayer.

For him, these are the ministers in charge of the Civil Service, Territorial Administration, Justice and National Education.

From another angle, the same newspaper headlines: “Vincent Dabilgou trial and 6 others: regional transport directors stop in the courtroom”.

According to him, at the resumption of the hearing on Tuesday, June 27, regional transport directors took the stand to shed light on the various parties involved in this trial.

According to L’Observateur Paalga, it was a question for them of giving answers on the famous false slips that they signed to justify the fuel that they received.

On the same subject, the public newspaper Sidwaya informs that among the number of witnesses who succeeded each other at the bar to bring their share of “truth” on the file, we can retain among others, Salfo Souleymane Ilboudo, general administrator of Ildo Oil, Aristide Meda.

The state daily reports that former regional transport directors Ali Ramdé, Ibrahim Sanfo, Abdoulaye Sinon, and Amadou Onadadja were at the helm.

Under another section, the private daily published in Bobo, L’Express du Faso displays: “Namsiguia attack, they have still done everything to mourn us”.

The Bobolais newspaper reports that on Monday June 26, 2023 in the locality of Namsiguia (Soum), the “forces of evil” attacked a supply convoy returning from Djibo.

For the dean of the private dailies, the provisional assessment recorded after the first search operations reports thirty-four (34) fallen (31 soldiers and 3 VDP) and about twenty wounded.

The newspaper specifies that more than 40 terrorists were neutralized during the terrorist attack.
