Burkina Faso Inaugurates First Mining Waste Processing Plant in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – In a significant development for the mining sector, Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, officially launched the country’s first mining waste processing plant, Golden Land, in Ouagadougou. This event marks a major step in the nation’s efforts to enhance its mining industry and economic sovereignty.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the General Director of Golden Hand, the factory, which is located in the Kossodo industrial zone, features parts and processing units that were manufactured locally in Burkina Faso. This achievement was particularly gratifying for President Traoré, who praised the initiative during the commissioning ceremony. The President highlighted Burkina Faso’s position as the second country in Africa to develop this kind of technology, emphasizing that it is not an imported solution but a product of Burkinabè ingenuity and research.

Specialists in the field have noted that the Golden Land plant will play a critical role in recovering significant quantities of residual precious metals from fine coals, slags, ashes, and actinic concentrates. The operation of this plant is expected to significantly enhance the added value of the mining sector in Burkina Faso, thereby contributing to the nation’s economic sovereignty.

This initiative aligns with President Traoré’s vision of establishing real sovereignty for Burkina Faso based on endogenous solutions, highlighting a shift towards self-reliance and innovative development in the country’s mining industry.
