Community tip-off leads to the swift recovery of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs by members of SAPS Dawn Park

Members of SAPS Dawn Park arrested a 36-year-old suspect on Wednesday, 24 May 2023 in Mapleton extension 10 for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs.

The members were reportedly out on a routine crime prevention patrol when they obtained a community tip-off and proceeded to the identified address.

Upon arrival at the said address the members conducted a search which led to the recovery of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs. Police also recovered cash which is believed to be the proceeds of alleged drug dealings.
