NSSF and Local Officials Lead Tree Planting at Kajiado Children’s Home

Kajiado, Kenya – In a collaborative effort, officials from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and the office of Kajiado Senator Kanar Seki planted over 200 tree seedlings at Kajiado Children’s Home and Kajiado AIC Child Care Centre and Dispensary. This initiative is part of a broader effort to combat drought and restore degraded land in the region.

According to Kenya News Agency, the tree planting exercise included a variety of trees, notably fruit-bearing species. The school has committed to nurturing the seedlings, with plans for NSSF officials to return next year to monitor their progress. Nelson Tanui, representing the NSSF, emphasized the activity’s alignment with the president’s directives on tree planting and the organization’s ongoing partnership with Kajiado Children’s Home.

Daniel Saitaga, a Director from the Kajiado Senator’s Office, called on local families to engage in tree planting, highlighting the benefits during rainy seasons and in positively impacting climate change.

Francis Parsimei, another director from the senator’s office, underscored the significance of trees in supporting livestock, water conservation, and providing food during droughts and normal seasons. Alfred Odupoi, Clinical Officer in charge of AIC Child Care and Dispensary, mentioned plans to incorporate fruit trees into their food generation projects, emphasizing the nutritional benefits of the fruits.
