Angola and Brazil Set to Sign Agreement on Technical, Academic, Scientific, and Cultural Cooperation

LUANDA – Angola and Brazil are preparing to enter into a cooperation agreement that will span various fields including technical, academic, scientific, and cultural sectors. The agreement will involve São Paulo Estadual University (UNESP) and the Angolan Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

According to a new release by Angola Press News Agency, a delegation led by Brazilian anthropologist and lecturer Dagoberto Fonseca arrived in Luanda on Sunday for a five-day work period with the Angolan National Archives and Institute for Tourism Development. The teams will mainly focus on the promotion of heritage tourism and research related to transatlantic maritime cruises between the two nations.

Dagoberto Fonseca serves as the scientific coordinator of UNESP’s Black Centre for Research and Extension (NUPE) and is the author of the program “Recognise, Repair, Reconnect to Continue: memory and history of our people – in the Atlantic world and on land.” Fonseca noted that the agreement aims to digitize documents related to transatlantic traffic and work on promoting heritage and research tourism.

Fonseca expressed his enthusiasm for renewing the unity between Angola and Brazil, emphasizing the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. The agreement is a part of a broader initiative involving multiple ministries in both countries and focuses on heritage, memory, and anti-racist themes.
