Namibia Premier Football League Qualification Heats Up as Southern Stream First Division League Nears End


KEETMANSHOOP, Namibia — The race for a spot in the Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) is intensifying as the Southern Stream First Division League (SSFD) approaches its conclusion, with the final rounds scheduled over the next three weeks. Markus Murks, the league administrator, confirmed that the season would wrap up soon, with crucial matches set for this weekend.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the upcoming weekends will see pivotal matches in the league’s final rounds, 18 through 20, spread across various venues. Competitions will take place at J Stephanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop, Ramblers Stadium and DTS Stadium in Windhoek, and Mariental Sports Stadium in Mariental. These matches are critical as teams fight for promotion or battle to avoid relegation.



This Saturday, Try Again and Oranjemund FC will face off in a crucial relegation duel at J Stephanus Stadium. In Windhoek, the mid-table Ramblers will host Black Africa, who are struggling to fend off relegation. At the Mariental Sports Stadium, Mariental Sports Club seeks a vital win in their quest for a top-four finish as they take on Dates Eleven.



The leaders, Namibian Correctional Service (NCS), will play against Latinos in Mariental in a match that could further their lead. In another key game, Davos will compete against Blue Boys at the DTS Stadium in Windhoek, with both teams vying for a spot in the NPFL.



The weekend will continue with more matches on Sunday, including Davos against Eleven Arrows and Latinos taking on DTS, concluding the round of fixtures.



With only five games left in the season, NCS leads the table with 44 points, closely followed by Blue Boys with 41. Eleven Arrows and Mariental SC are in pursuit with 34 and 32 points respectively, while Dates Eleven holds the fifth spot with 28 points. The battle to escape relegation sees Davos and Black Africa striving to secure vital points in their remaining matches, standing at 18 and 16 points respectively, while Oranjemund and DTS are also deep in the relegation zone.
