Rwanda Launches Electric Buses in Kigali to Enhance Green Transport

Kigali, Rwanda – The Kigali city authorities, in a joint initiative with BasiGo, a Kenyan company, have introduced electric buses into the city’s public transport system. This move, executed earlier this month, follows a successful trial of electric minibuses on the streets of Kigali.

According to Africa News Agency, these electric buses can travel up to 300 kilometers on a full charge. Charging stations have been strategically installed in the Kicukiro district of Kigali. The plan is to roll out 200 buses within the next 18 months, each capable of accommodating 70 passengers, as part of the city’s push towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation.
