Integration : Gabon partially suspended from the Commonwealth

Meeting this week in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss developments in member states, the 63rd Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) meeting decided to “partially suspend Gabon”. It was also decided that if acceptable progress is not made within two years, consideration will be given to suspending Gabon completely from Commonwealth membership.

The Group called on Gabon, as a member of the Commonwealth, to defend the values and principles of the Commonwealth and to organize credible elections as soon as possible and within a maximum period of two years from August 30, 2023.
