LOUMBILA: The Yamlaminim Association has made a generous contribution to the educational landscape of Loumbila, Burkina Faso, by donating school kits to 72 pupils and students on Monday, September 30, just as the new school year is set to begin. The donation includes various items such as school supplies, school canteen access, and bicycles, aimed at supporting secondary and university level students.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donated items are valued at approximately 9,380,000 FCFA for secondary students and 13,080,000 FCFA for university students. Hamidou Salambéré, the representative of Yamlaminim in Burkina Faso, highlighted the organization’s continued commitment to education in the region, with a total investment of around 28,260,000 FCFA for this year alone. The ceremony, attended by local educational and governmental authorities, also recognized the support provided to 16 internally displaced students with a contribution of 5,800,000 FCFA.
The event drew a significant attendance f
rom community members, including teachers, parents, and former beneficiaries of the association’s programs, who shared insights and advice with current beneficiaries. Adama Compaoré, the 1st Vice-President of the special delegation of Loumbila, expressed his gratitude towards the association for aligning their support with the priorities of both local and higher authorities.
In addition, Mrs. Somé Edwige Marie Gilberte, the provincial director of post-primary and secondary education in Oubritenga province, also praised Yamlaminim’s efforts, which she noted have been supporting educational initiatives in the area since 2007. Her remarks underscored the impact of the association’s support on motivating students and enhancing their school experience by providing essential resources.
The ceremony also included requests from parents and local authorities for extending support to primary school students, a suggestion that Hamidou Salambéré promised to relay to the leadership of Yamlaminim. As part of their ongoin
g contribution, Yamlaminim also donated educational materials to the Basic Education District of Loumbila, including 24 boxes of chalk and 150 notebooks.
This year’s contributions build on a history of support from Yamlaminim, which includes previous projects such as the establishment of a library and the construction of a water pool for Loumbila departmental high school, enhancing both educational resources and infrastructure in the region.
