19th Ouagadougou International Theater and Puppet Festival Announced for Late October

Ouagadougou – The 19th edition of the Ouagadougou International Theater and Puppet Festival is set to take place from October 26 to 31, as announced during a press conference on Thursday, October 19.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, president and artistic director of FITMO, this year’s festival will be organized under the theme “Art and Freedom.” The program includes a wide range of activities such as dance, theater, puppetry, and storytelling performances. A conference discussing the festival’s theme will also be held on October 24 and 25 at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University. In addition to the conference, various professional workshops are planned, including those focused on journalistic writing, documentary theater, visual arts, and physical art. The festival’s opening ceremony is slated for 6:30 p.m. on October 26 at the Gambidi cultural space, featuring a play titled “Renaissance” by the local theater group “Théâtre de la Fraternité.”
