The World Health Organization (WHO) has donated 70 metric tons of emergency medicine and other medical supplies to the Northern Ethiopia Emergency Response.

The medical supplies will be distributed to all government health facilities and used to scale up provision of emergency and essential health services to all people in need of health care services.

War affected inhabitants of Tigray, Amhara and Afar regions would benefit from the aid, WHO Shire Branch Coordinator Boniface Ambani said.

So far, WHO has donated 650 metric tons of emergency medicine and other medical supplies to support delivery of health services in government health facilities for Northern Emergency Response, he added.

With support from donors and development partners, WHO will continue to collaborate with the government in providing essential health care services for people in need of these services, it was learned.

The donation is reportedly funded by United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund, USAID, and European Commission Humanitarian Organization.
