Léraba: Students in environmental education holiday camp trained in saponification
Holiday students at the 9th edition of the environmental education holiday camp in Sindou, capital of the province of Léraba, were trained from Monday July 31 to Thursday August 03, 2023 in Sindou, in the transformation non-timber forest products in soap and reforestation.
In order to promote environmental education among children and young people, the Provincial Directorate of the Environment of Léraba organizes an environmental holiday camp each year for 01 months for the benefit of students on holiday in Sindou.
It is with this in mind that these students received training from July 31 to August 03, 2023 in Sindou, training on the transformation of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) into soap, with the support of the researcher at the National Center of Scientific and Technological Research (CNRST), Doctor Lamoussa Paul Ouattara.
Learners were equipped to transform shea butter, coconut oil, balanitis oil, neem and moringa leaves into soap (solid, laundry, dishwashing, toilet).
The Provincial Director of the Environment of Léraba, Foé André Joseph Bonaventure Traoré, accompanied by his colleagues, led the students to the reforestation sites, with the aim of showing them how to plant useful and responsible plants and also how to maintain the trees.
