Family and Child Month: Minister Nandy Somé Communes with IDPs

The Minister in charge of Humanitarian Action and the Family Nandy Somé / Diallo shared a community meal with 1,000 children on June 15, 2023 in Kongoussi, during the commemoration of the month of Family and of the Child.

The month of the Family and the Child is commemorated this month of June 2023 by the Ministry of Solidarity, Humanitarian Action, National Reconciliation, Gender and Family. For the occasion, Minister Nandy Somé / Diallo decided to share a community meal with internally displaced children and vulnerable children from the host communities of Kongoussi. Around 1,000 children benefited from a community meal.

500 of them shared it directly with Minister Nandy Somé/Diallo and Unicef representative Bilal Sougou.Sougo and the rest at IDP sites.

In addition to the meal, 900 kits were distributed to children on site. These are 500 protection kits donated by the Ministry in charge of Humanitarian Action, 200 hygiene kits donated by Unicef and 200 dignity kits donated by Terre des Hommes (TDH).

For the Minister in charge of Humanitarian Action Nandy Diallo / Somé, the celebration of this day is of paramount importance for her department because it makes it possible to take stock of the situation on the protection and rights of children in Burkina. Faso.

“I am here this morning on this day to magnify the Family, which is the crucible of good practices and good values. It is also an opportunity for us to challenge the community to educate children about good behavior and good values because this year’s commemoration is placed under the sign of the development of children’s rights with the digital age. she explained.

The representative of the technical and financial partners Hamidou Ouédraogo of TDH, congratulated the Burkinabè government for its multiple actions in favor of the promotion of children’s rights and their protection.

He reiterated the availability of the various partners involved in the field of childhood, to support the Ministry of Solidarity, Humanitarian Action, National Reconciliation, Gender and Family in its permanent quest for the well- to be Burkinabè children.

The Minister’s trip to Kongoussi ended with a visit to a host family in sector 4 of Kongoussi. There, Nandy Diallo/Somé was able to meet Alizèta Ouermi and two other women who take in internally displaced children in their homes.

The minister expressed the Burkinabè government’s thanks to these families who have developed a spirit of solidarity with child victims of the security crisis. She gave them food to support their efforts.
