Badongo School Triumphs in Pô’s Annual Primary School Sports and Cultural Finale


Pô – The Basic Education District of Pô concluded its 2024 sports and cultural activities with an exciting final on May 8, where Badongo school emerged victorious in the football competition. The event marked the end of activities that had been engaging students since November 2023.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the head of the basic education district in Pô, the events spanned five months, featuring competitions in football, athletics, traditional dance, and modern ballet under the theme “Sport, culture, and mobilization of youth for the defense of the homeland.” Yogo emphasized that the activities were conducted in a spirit of brotherhood and fair play, with a focus on instilling respect for national symbols, particularly the national flag, as a unifying identity for all Burkinabè.



The climactic match saw Badongo school defeat Pô Commando by four goals to three in a penalty shootout, clinching the trophy for this edition. Alongside the trophy, Badongo school was awarded 35,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, and a ball. Pô Commando school received 25,000 CFA francs, jerseys, and a ball as well, with additional rewards given to schools finishing third and fourth.



The ceremony also celebrated excellence in athletics, traditional and modern dance, and other cultural expressions like sketches and recitals, with prizes awarded in various categories. Moreover, schools with outstanding results in the 2023 CEP exams were acknowledged during the event.



A poignant moment of silence was observed to honor the Defense and Security Forces who have fallen in defense of the homeland. This was followed by a parade featuring all participating schools. The day also included interactions between educational supervisors, teachers, students, and local defense and security personnel through a community cross-country event.



The event was presided over by Ilassa Dianda, president of the special delegation of the commune of Pô, and co-sponsored by Honorable Deputy Bouba Yaguibou and Faïshal Adi, CEO of Guidjara Hotel.
