Tunisia and Syria state shared will to restore normal bilateral relations

The Tunisian and Syrian Ministers of Foreign Affairs stated their shared will “to see the bilateral and fraternal relations return to normal,” through strengthening diplomatic representations and exchanging visits between both countries’ officials.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar, on Saturday, received a phone call from his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad who conveyed the greetings and consideration of President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad to President Kais Saied. Mekdad also commended Tunisia’s support to Syria during the earthquake that hit the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced on February 12 that a diplomat from the Tunisian embassy in Lebanon will join the diplomatic mission in Damascus, Syria, from February 13, to follow up on the situation of Tunisians residing in Syria following the earthquake that hit several regions of the country.
