World Bank Announces $3.6 Billion Investment in 29 Burkina Faso Projects


OUAGADOUGOU – The World Bank is currently implementing 29 projects in Burkina Faso, with a total investment of $3.6 billion. This substantial financial commitment was confirmed by Clara de Souza, the Director of Operations of the World Bank for Burkina, Mali, Niger, and Chad.



According to Burkina Information Agency, de Souza made these remarks on Monday while introducing the new resident representative of the World Bank in Burkina, Hamouda Abdel Wedoud Kamil, to the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Me Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla. The projects encompass a wide range of sectors including education, health, agriculture, and water.



During the meeting, Clara de Souza emphasized the strong relationship between the World Bank and Burkina Faso, expressing it as a privilege for the World Bank to support the Burkinabe government’s efforts in poverty reduction. She highlighted the encouraging results achieved so far and reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to continuing this support.



Furthermore, de Souza noted that the new representative, Kamil, will maintain the current agenda, aiming to expedite the realization of tangible results on the ground in Burkina Faso.
