Narok County Prepares for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Narok: The Narok County Government is gearing up for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, an international initiative aimed at combating violence against women and girls. The event, announced by Narok Director of Gender Agnes Ngeno, is set to take place next week at Elangata Enterit in Narok South Sub County.

According to Kenya News Agency, the campaign seeks to express disapproval of gender-based violence within Narok County’s society. Abdi Shakur Ali, Assistant County Commissioner of Narok Central Division, noted a significant reduction in teenage pregnancies, from 48% to 28%. Despite this progress, Ali emphasized the need for continued efforts from all stakeholders to address remaining challenges.

Ali highlighted the persistence of retrogressive practices in the county and identified teenage pregnancies as a critical issue. The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a crucial global movement to end violence against women and girls.
