Small Business Development Committee to Host Public Hearings on NSEA Bill in Gauteng

Gauteng, South Africa – The Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development is preparing to conduct the final leg of its public hearings on the National Small Enterprise Amendment (NSEA) Bill [B16-2023] in Gauteng, starting from 21 November 2023. These hearings follow the committee’s visits to eight other provinces and are part of a broader initiative to involve the public in legislative processes as per section 59(1)(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

According to Parliament of South Africa, the hearings in Gauteng will occur at three different locations: Fochville Civic Centre in West Rand District, South Rand Recreation Centre in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, and Boksburg City Hall in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. Each session is scheduled to run from 10 am to 2 pm. The NSEA Bill, amongst other objectives, proposes the establishment of the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency and the Office of the Small Enterprise Ombud Service, aiming to bolster support and oversight for small enterprises in the country.
