Suspected Suicide and Armed Robbery Incidents Reported in Windhoek

WINDHOEK: The Namibian Police Force has reported a suspected suicide and multiple robbery incidents that occurred over the weekend in Windhoek, raising concerns about safety in the city. The body of a 48-year-old man was discovered in a shack in Okuryangava, while separate armed robberies were reported in Dorado Park and Katutura, with no arrests made so far.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the deceased, identified as Job Munjanu, was found in a shack with a rope tied around his neck and another piece of rope tied to the roof’s timber. This has led authorities to suspect suicide. The family has been notified, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.



In another report, a 38-year-old woman was the victim of a robbery at gunpoint in Dorado Park. Suspects reportedly bypassed an electric fence, entered the house, and stole multiple items including cell phones, sneakers, a ring, an airgun, and cash amounting to N.dollars 12,000.



Meanwhile, a separate incident in Katutura involved a 47-year-old man who was robbed of his vehicle, a Nissan, along with a cell phone and wallet containing important documents, valued collectively at N.dollars 57,420. The assailants reportedly held the victim at knifepoint.



The police are continuing their investigations into both robbery incidents, seeking to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen items. The reports have prompted authorities to urge the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
