Zhengzhou: Sugar futures closed lower Thursday in daytime trading on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE). The most active sugar contract for January 2025 delivery lost 86 yuan (11.95 U.S. dollars) to close at 5,869 yuan per tonne.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the total trading volume for six listed sugar futures contracts on the ZCE was 374,024 lots, with a turnover of 22.07 billion yuan. China, a significant consumer and importer of sugar, introduced sugar futures on the ZCE in January 2006. This initiative aims to assist sugar-related enterprises in hedging price risks.
