Centenary of the parish of Saint Joseph of Pabré: the faithful invited to build a better world

“A jubilee is nothing but a thanksgiving. We met to say thank you to the Lord for these marvels of love shown by his servant Monsignor Joanny Thévenoud, all the missionaries, priests and all the laity who gave themselves to make the Church what it is today. today,” said the first head of the Roman Catholic Church in Burkina Faso.

The celebration was marked by the consecration of the new altar of the Church which symbolizes the presence of Jesus Christ, he explains.

The Cardinal called on Christians during this celebration to contribute for a better, more tolerant world of fraternity and love.

For the parish priest of Pabré, Father Vincent Ilboudo, the theme of the jubilee is “rooted in Jesus, united in faith, let us build our parish”.

“The work that remains is to continue to ensure that the faithful can take Christ as a model, give themselves to him and come out of the fear of certain realities to truly live the Gospel”, urged Abbot Ilboudo.

Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla, represented the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, at this celebration of the 100th anniversary of this local church.

As a reminder, the parish of Saint Joseph de Pabré was born thanks to Father Joanny Thévenoud, (1878 -1949), one of the builders of the Church of Burkina.

Pabré’s first black priest was Abbot Dieudonné Yougbaré.
