SOLENZO — The community of Solenzo has donated essential equipment, including 260 raincoats and 15 radio sets, valued at a total of 1,998,750 FCFA, to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in an effort to bolster local security efforts.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the spokesperson for the donors, the items were presented to the VDP at the central police station in Solenzo on Tuesday, July 9. The donation, consisting of 1,317,000 FCFA worth of raincoats and 681,750 FCFA worth of walkie-talkies, aims to enhance the volunteers’ capabilities during the rainy season and improve communication for better coordination in their operations.
Mr. Coulibaly explained the critical timing and purpose of the donation, stating that the raincoats are crucial for protection against weather elements as the volunteers continue their mission to secure the area from threats. The radios will improve communication, helping them respond more effectively to security challenges in the region.
Gomssida Sankara, the municipal manager of the VDP, expressed his gratitude towards the Solenzo community for their continued support. He emphasized that the equipment will enable the volunteers to perform their duties under adverse weather conditions and maintain their vigilance in safeguarding the local population.
