Fatal Road Accident Claims Woman’s Life Near Kalkfeld

OTJIWARONGO: A tragic road incident claimed the life of a 51-year-old woman on the outskirts of Kalkfeld, in the Otjozondjupa Region on Monday afternoon.

According to the Namibia Press Agency (Nampa), the Namibian Police Force’s head of community affairs for the Otjozondjupa Region, the woman was identified as Romantha Lizele Nanuses. The accident occurred approximately 21 kilometers east of Kalkfeld, on the road from Otjiwarongo, around 15:30. The vehicle she was in overturned, leading to fatal injuries that caused her death while en route to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.

The other passengers, including Nanuses’ twin boys, aged three, and an adult male, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. Inspector Mbeha stated that all survivors are in stable condition at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.

Mbeha also reported that it remains unclear who was driving at the time of the accident as all occupants were ejected from the vehicle upon impact. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
