Omusati Region – A disturbing incident has come to light from Ontanda village in the Omusati Region, where a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 57-year-old man. The tragic event reportedly occurred on Thursday evening.
According to Namibian Press Agency (NAMPA), Commissioner Ismael Basson, the case of rape has been opened following the incident. Basson detailed that the suspect, employed as a domestic worker, resides close to the victim and her family. He allegedly took the minor from her parents’ house to his room, where the rape occurred.
The crime came to light after being reported by the victim’s biological mother. Basson revealed that the suspect, who was previously out on bail for the same offence, has been arrested. He is scheduled to appear in court next week. Meanwhile, police investigations into the matter are ongoing, as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of this heinous act.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of children in the area and the monitoring of individuals on bail for such grave offences.
