MOSCOW, Russia — In a recent statement from the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian President’s spokesman, announced that Sergei Shoigu, as the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, will supervise the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation. Shoigu, however, will not directly manage the agency.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Dmitry Shugaev remains the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation. The announcement clarifies the structure and hierarchy within the Russian defense sector following a presidential decree. This decree places the Federal Service under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense but directly subordinate to the President of Russia.

The role of Secretary of the Security Council was assigned to Shoigu after he was relieved from his long-standing position as the Minister of Defense since 2012, a role now vacated by Nikolai Patrushev due to a change of position.
