Russian-Burkinabe Association Launches Football School in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou – The Russian-Burkinabe association ‘African Initiative’ initiated the transformation of the Saaba Football Club academy into a fully-fledged training center yesterday, aiming to elevate Burkinabe football to international levels.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the establishment of the training center marks a significant step towards developing future Burkinabe football professionals. The announcement was made during the launch of the third edition of the ‘football awakening holiday camp’ at the academy. Konkov highlighted the goal of the initiative to discover and nurture talent that can represent Burkinabe football globally.

The event also served as an opportunity for the community to acknowledge the contributions of various stakeholders. Ayo Soumaïla, president of the association, credited Alexandre Sansan Konkov’s vision for the project, emphasizing the potential of the academy to produce talented players for international opportunities, including in Russia.

The academy currently hosts around 130 young athletes participating in the holiday camp, enjoying the benefits of a new partnership that has provided substantial sports equipment. Jacques Kontogom, a representative of the Saaba Football Club academy, expressed gratitude towards their Russian partners for the donation of sports gear, which includes mobile football posts, bibs, cups, cones, balls, t-shirts, and a medical kit.
