ADDIS ABABA: Russia has expressed a strong interest in collaborating with Ethiopia on advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence, according to Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia Evgeny E. Terekhin. The announcement came during an exhibition of Russian robotic innovations at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Addis Ababa.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the event, titled ‘Days of Robotics and Innovative Educational Technologies,’ was organized by South West State University, a prominent Russian institution in scientific and technical research. The exhibition, which is open to the public for three days, drew participation from Ethiopian students, educators, innovation experts, and individuals studying in Russia.

Ambassador Terekhin emphasized Russia’s eagerness to work with Ethiopia on robotics and AI as part of broader bilateral cooperation. He highlighted the potential for joint research and idea exchange between Russian and Ethiopian specialists in these fields. The ambassador praised
the accomplishments of Ethiopian scientists and innovators in AI and robotics, noting the impressive progress made over a short period.

Additionally, Ethiopian secondary school students will have opportunities to study robotics and AI at Russian universities. Ambassador Terekhin also commented on Ethiopia’s 5 Million Coders Training program, launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, describing it as a significant initiative for advancing the sector.
