Rui Andrade Takes Top Honors in FIA World Endurance Championship LMP2 Class

Luanda — Rui Andrade, an Angolan driver, has clinched the title in the LMP2 class of the International Automobile Federation (FIA)’s World Endurance Championship at the “8 Hours of Bahrain”. The final round of the championship took place this Saturday in Manama.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Andrade, alongside teammates Rober Kubica of Poland and Louis Delétraz of Switzerland, accumulated 173 points over six races, marking an impressive streak of victories for the WRT team. Their performance builds on past successes, including a European championship title in 2021.

Following the conclusion of the championship, Andrade shared his elation over the victory and emphasized the collective effort with his teammates, highlighting the significance of their achievement for the people of Angola.

The president of the Angolan Motor Sports Federation (FADM), Ramiro Barreira, issued a statement celebrating the team’s success. “The victory honours us greatly, taking our country’s flag to the highest pedestal. Congratulations for your dexterity, effort, focus, and dedication in a season full of many successes, despite the normal setbacks encountered and against worthy and high-level opponents,” the message from FADM stated.
