Burkina Faso Government Distributes Over 120 Tonnes of Aid to Resettled Villages

OUAGADOUGOU – In a significant move to support communities affected by terrorism, the Burkina Faso government has delivered 122.5 tonnes of food and essential supplies to villages recently liberated by the national army. The supplies were distributed under the leadership of Nandy Somé Diallo, Minister in charge of Humanitarian Action, to various resettled localities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the aid package included not only food but also basic necessities like soap and clothing. The initiative targets villages in the west of Burkina Faso that have been secured and reclaimed from terrorist control. During her visit, Minister Diallo commended the returning residents for their resilience and dedication to rebuilding their lives in their ancestral homes.

The minister also extended condolences to families who have suffered during the conflict and encouraged displaced individuals to return to the areas that have been secured. “This commitment to resettlement and national liberation is a directive from the President of the Transition and reflects our collective effort to restore stability,” Diallo stated. The ongoing military efforts against terrorist groups have reportedly allowed hundreds of thousands of displaced persons to move back to safer villages since 2023.
