Religion: Catholics commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ this Friday

Catholics in Burkina Faso commemorate this “Good Friday”, like their brothers and sisters around the world, the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.

“Good Friday” also marks the end of the 40 days of Lent, which began on “Ash Wednesday”.

At the university parish of Saint Albert Le Grand in Ouagadougou (La Rotonde), the faithful observed in the middle of the day, “the Stations of the Cross”.

This spiritual exercise retraces the arrest, the judgment, the journey of Jesus Christ to Golgotha (place of his crucifixion) and ends with his death.

Religious services are planned in Catholic Churches this Friday evening in place of the commemoration of the death of Jesus.

After this “mourning”, Catholics will enter into the joy of Easter, next Sunday, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
