Boromo: The provincial coordination of citizen watch associations in Bal© has urged its members to remain vigilant and active during the forthcoming end-of-year celebrations. This call to action was made during a meeting held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, aimed at reviewing the year’s activities, with a focus on organizing young people from both urban and rural areas to participate in round-the-clock citizen watch activities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the officials expressed satisfaction with the mobilization and patriotic commitment of the citizen watch cells across various communes and villages. These efforts have involved women’s and youth associations collaborating with local administrative authorities throughout the year. The officials highlighted the importance of maintaining the momentum achieved in supporting the Transition’s efforts, emphasizing that the patriotic commitment of the youth has remained strong throughout the year.
The primary mission of the monitoring cells has included launching alerts, disseminating useful government information related to development, sharing successes of the defense and security forces, and engaging in community interest activities. Notably, the coordination praised the awareness and alert initiatives during the flooding of the H¨r¨dougou bridge, which were crucial in managing the situation.
Abdoulaye Bakayogo, the provincial coordinator of the citizen monitoring associations, commended the youth’s unwavering commitment, which has enhanced their visibility among customary and religious authorities, as well as provincial and regional administrative officials. He urged the monitoring cells and local populations to prioritize collective security over excessive celebrations and to remain vigilant during the festive period. Bakayogo emphasized the continued importance of civic and patriotic engagement in the coming year, aligning with government development projects under the leadership of President Captain Ibrahim Traor©.
Looking forward, the coordination aims to better organize existing associations, expand monitoring cells across all villages, and provide training to enhance their effectiveness. Plans also include raising awareness among young people about civic responsibilities and encouraging them to take advantage of governmental resources available for youth projects. Additionally, the coordination intends to visually represent the villages and cities of the province with the colors of the countries of the AES.
Coordination officials acknowledged the support from administrative, customary, and religious authorities, as well as resource persons who have contributed to the year’s activities. They also appealed to the province’s residents to actively participate in APEC and the war effort to reinforce their initiatives.
