Ouagadougou – Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré has taken a pivotal step in bolstering the nation’s military leadership by appointing commanders for the Rapid Intervention Groups (GIR) within the Special and Rapid Intervention Brigade.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Captain Kiswendsida Farouk Azaria Tobouan Sorgho will lead the first GIR. The command of the second GIR has been entrusted to Captain Abdoul Aziz Ouattara, while Captain Jean Ouiya and Captain Oumarou Dimanche will head the third and fourth GIRs, respectively. Additionally, Captain Samouvo Modeste Zaoua has been appointed as the commander of the Special Forces Group, as part of President Traoré’s comprehensive strategy to enhance military leadership and readiness.
